Changchun Plant Opening
On 27June, the opening ceremony of the SDS Changchun Plant was held in Changchun West New Economic Development Zone. Hosted by SDS managing director Xue Jinda, the ceremony began at 10:18 AM (18 is a lucky number in China). Important figures including GKN Asia Pacific managing director Marc Vuarchex and HASCO general manager Zhang Haitao gave enthusiastic speeches to congratulate the company on the plant’s opening. Deputy mayor of Changchun Teng Jiacai and seven other high-level leaders cut the ribbon to officially open the plant.
At the beginning of 2010, with an investment of RMB408 million Yuan, SDS established its 52,000-square-metre Changchun Plant in the city’s West New Area. The plant saw the completion of its first phase and entered production in June, with an annual production capacity of 500,000 car sets. The second phase is scheduled for completion by the end of 2011, and will add a further production capacity of 500,000 car sets per year. When finished, the Changchun Plant will be the major driveshaft supplier for OEMs in northeast China. Furthermore, the plant’s opening provides an excellent foundation for Changchun to develop into a world-class auto-manufacturing base, with high production capacity for finished automobiles and core components, industry-leading R&D capabilities, and first-class management and service.
